German from home during 11th week of school closure

Dear students,

I hope this message finds you and your families well. We are almost at the end of this scholastic year. Some may have seen it as a blessing, others as a curse. Whatever the circumstances, remember that the struggle you’re in today, is developing the strength you need for tomorrow.

Year 9

This week we are ending the chapter Unterwegs in der Stadt by focusing on Einladungen (invitations). How do we ask our friends out in German? What are the typical German phrases used when we have someone over for lunch or dinner? How should one write a good invitation? By the end of this week you should be able to answer the above three questions, only if you watch my recorded video and work out the tasks I have assigned. Thus, you need to download the following files:

  1. Video: Yr9 – 01.06.20 (explanation)
  2. Einladungen: mündlich (notes)
  3. Einladungen: schriftlich (notes)
  4. Auf eine Einladung antworten (HW)
  5. Schreibe eine Einladung (HW)
  6. Dankesbrief (HW)

Year 10

Over the last two weeks we learnt the basic vocabulary we need to help us make a conversation in German at the doctor’s clinic. Now it’s time to proceed to the next sub-topic: Gesund Essen. We will explore different eating habits and analyse what is healthy (gesund) and what’s not (ungesund). From a cultural point of view, we will read about the Germans’ food-related traits. Do they maintain a healthy eating lifestyle? Please watch my short video clip and work out this week’s assigned tasks. You need to download the following files:

  1. Video: Yr 10 – 01.06.20 (explanation)
  2. Essgewohnheiten (notes/CW)
  3. Gesund oder ungesund (HW)
  4. SEC 2016: Cloze Test (HW)
  5. Essen die Deutschen gesund? (HW)

May you all have a blessed week. Take care 🙂

Kind regards,

M. Abela Bugeja
